Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0 allows logical network administrators to uninstall the following antivirus applications remotely:

  • Kaspersky Network Agent
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows Workstations
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 SOS
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0 for Windows File Servers
  • Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows File Servers

as well as some external anti-virus applications. This list is always changing, that is why it cannot be fully listed in the article. You can see this list when creating the product deinstallation task in the Application window.

Information Additionally, the list of external applications includes some anti-virus applications of Kaspersky Lab of previous versions (4.x)

When creating the product deinstallation task define the uninstall method –Forced uninstall or Uninstall using a startup script. The uninstall method depends on the OS’s installed on client computers and the network configuration.

Forced uninstall

This method allows deleting software on definite client computers in a logical network and it is recommended to use on client computers running under:

    • MS Windows NT/2000/2003/XP, which supports the possibility
    • MS Windows 98/Me, on which Administration Agent is installed.

WarningIf you uninstall on the computer, on which the Administration Agent is not installed, then the account should have;

    • rights to start remotely the applications on the client computer in the logical network;
    • rights for Admin$ source;
    • right to Logon as a service
    • right to deinstall

Information To save the network traffic when running the forced uninstall task the uninstall utilities can be delivered by means of Update Agents. This is a default method, if Update Agents are set in administration groups.

If Update Agents are not used in the corporate network, then when the task is started the uninstall utilities are copied from the public shared folder of the Administration Server on each client computer to a temporary folder and the install program is launched on each host. The installation files are delivered by means of the Network Agent (if it is installed on a client computer) or using RPC (Remote Procedure Call).

Warning If the Administration Server and the client computer are connected via Internet or the connection is firewall-protected, public shared folders can be used to transfer the data. In this case to deliver the uninstall utility the Network Agent should be installed on the client computer.

Uninstall using a startup script

This uninstall method allows you to start remote product deinstallation task by an account of a specific user (several users).

According to the task schedule in the startup script for defined accounts launch of the uninstall utility, which resides in the public shared folder of the Administration Server, is recorded.

As a result when a user is registered in the domain an attempt is made to uninstall an application remotely on the client computer from which the user registered.

This method is recommended to deinstall applications on computers running under

    • MS Windows 98/Me on which the Network Agent is NOT installed.

Warning To perform an uninstall task successfully, the account under which the task is running must have:

    • right to change login scripts in the domain controller database.
    • local administrator right on the computer on which the application is being uninstalled.
