How to create new password database (create several password databases) using Password Manager in Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for Personal Computer?

ID Article: 7132    Other languages:  Polski  Русский  English      Views for 7 days 15    Last modified on 05.09.2011 10:14 Printable version

Applies to Kaspersky Small Office Security 2 for Personal Computer

My Password Manager allows consistent use of multiple Password Databases. Creating a new Password Database allows your personal data to be separated and saved in two or more Password Databases. All passwords from the existing databases are copied into a new database upon its creation. Once the new database is created all changes in the data will now be saved in the new database only. The old password database remains without changes.

To create a new Password Database, please do the following:

  1. Open the Password Manager context menu.
  2. In the context menu, select Settings.

  1. In the Password Manager Settings window that will open select the My passwords section.
  2. In the right part of the window under Location, click located in the right part of the Path field

  1. In the Select Password Database window, specify the location and filename of the Password Database and click Open

  1. In the Password Database location, select the Create new Password Database action and click OK

  1. In the New Password Database window, under Password, set the password for access to the new database and re-enter it in the field Confirm password
    • If the password is re-entered incorrectly, it will be highlighted red.
    • The Password strength scale will show how strong your password is.
    • If you are afraid of key-loggers click Virtual keyboard (click the button on the right, to open it).
    • To see the password, click the Show password button.
  2. Under Encryption algorithm select the encryption provider and required encryption method (the default provider is Microsoft Strong Cryptographic Provider, algorithm - RC4 128 bit)
  3. Click OK

  1. In the displayed window, enter the new Master Password to confirm creation of a new Password Database

  1. In the My Password Manager Settings window click OK to close the window.
