The kmlisten.exe utility serves for transferring Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone from a workstation to a connected mobile device.
As a result of executing the remote installation task, the installation package with the distribution package for Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone will be delivered to the users' workstations, and kmlisten.exe will be installed and automatically started.
The utility always resides in the memory (kmlisten.exe process) and monitors for the connection of mobile devices to the computer. As soon as the user plugs into the workstation any device that fulfills the system requirements for the installation of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone, the utility displays on the screen a notification with a prompt to install the application on the connected mobile device. If the user agrees to the installation, the utility transfers the application distribution package to the mobile device.
Download the KES8_forAdminKit_en.exe self-extracting archive;
Go to the Repositories node;
Right-click the Installation packages node and select New > Installation package;
Indicate the name of the installation package (KES 8 e.g.) and click Next;
Select Create Kaspersky Lab’s installation package in the drop-down menu;
Use the Select button to open the folder with the application distribution package;
select the self-extracting archive KES8_forAdminKit_en.exe.
if the archive has already been unpacked, you can select from the archive the file with the application description: kmlisten.kpd;
Click Next twice;
The following stage consists of transferring the installation package to a shared folder on the Administration Server;
Open the installation package properties in the Console and go to the Settings tab;
Indicate the connection properties used by mobile devices to connect to the Administration server and the name of the group for automatic relocation of mobile devices after the first synchronization with the Administration serer:
Indicate the Administration server address in the Server address field in the same format as it appears in the in the Administration server properties in the General tab, in the Address field;
Indicate the number of the port on the Administration Server that is open for mobile device connections in the SSL port number field. The port 13292 is used by default;
Indicate the name of the group for automatic relocation of mobile devices after the first synchronization with the Administration server in the Name of group field. The specified group will be created automatically in the Unassigned computers node.
In order to install the kmlisten.exe utility via a workstation, you should create and run a remote installation task for the workstations used for connecting mobile devices.
The sequence of the setup wizard steps and the required properties may vary according to the selected installation type. Please find below an example of creating a Task for specific computers:
Right click the Tasks for specific computers node;
Select New > Task;
Enter a task name;
Select the KES8 package you have created in the Installation package step;
After the remote installation process has been completed, the kmlisten.exe process should start on the workstations. This process belongs to the KES 8 installer utility.
If you have excluded the kmlisten.exe utility from residing in the memory permanently, but have not removed it from the computer, and want to install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone on a mobile device, you should manually run the C:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky ES8 Installer\kmlisten.exe file.
Removing the kmlisten.exe utility
The kmlisten.exe utility can be uninstalled on a client computer only locally via Control Panel > Add or Remove programs.
