Installing Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows via the Setup wizard

  • The Setup wizard interface is a sequence of steps. Download (from Kaspersky Lab website) and run the installer file to start Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows Setup wizard.

    Step-by-step Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows installation guide:

    Run the installer file to start the Setup wizard.

    Step 1. Hardware and software requirements check.

    The first step consists in checking that the computer meets the hardware and software requirements to install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows:

    • Compliance with hardware and software requirements:

    If any of these conditions fails to pass the test, a notification will be displayed.

    If the test is successful, the Setup wizard will scan the system for any other antivirus software installed to avoid very likely software conflicts emerging from several antivirus programs running on the same computer simultaneously.

    Here is a list of software incompatible with Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows.

    If you have either Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Workstations version 6.0.3.x / 6.0.4.x or Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Windows Servers version 6.0.3.x / 6.0.4.x installed, these will be automatically upgraded. All relative data that can be inherited (activation key, application settings), will be saved and used in the new Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows installation.

    Step 2.

    The second step is the Initial setup screen.

    Step 3. License agreement.

    Read the license agreement and tick the I accept box if you agree with it.

    Step 4. Kaspersky Security Network.

    This step invites you to participate in the Kaspersky Security Network program.

    Read the offer. If you accept it, choose the I agree to participate in Kaspersky Security Network option.

    Step 5. Setup type selection.

    Full installation installs the application with parameters recommended by Kaspersky Lab. Custom installation allows you to select the protection components to install and to other options to set.

    Step 6. Custom installation.

    Appear only if you have selected Custom installation in the previous step.

    Define the protection components to be installed.



    There is an info field displaying information about protection components and tasks they perform, their size, etc.

    Information The figure above displays a list of components for Workstation installation. In case of a Server installation the number of available components will be different.

    Step 7. Installation folder selection.

    Appear only if you have selected Custom installation in the step 5.

    By default, Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows installation folder is:

    • 32 bit OS disk:\Program Files\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows\
    • 64 bit OS disk:\Program Files (x86)\Kaspersky Lab\Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows\

    Step 8. Configure trusted zone.

    Appear only if you have selected Custom installation in the step 5.

    Define what areas recommended by Kaspersky Lab you want to add to the trusted zone.

    Information

    The option Exclude aresas that are recommended by Microsoft form virus sacn scope is available only if you install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows on an operating system for file servers.

     

    Step 9. Ready to install.

     

    It is recommended to leave the option Protect the installation process enabled just in case there is any malware on the computer capable of disrupting the installation.

    Information However this option should be disabled if you are installing Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows via Windows Remote Desktop.

     

    Add the path to the file avp.com to the system variable %PATH%  allows to add avp.com path to the system variable %PATH%.


    Step 10. Installation.

    It takes some time to install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows.



    Once the installation completes, the Initial configuration wizard will start. It allows activating Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Windows and collects information about the software present in the system.
