How to add files to an archive?

Before sending files to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support, you need to add them to an archive. A file can be added to an archive the following ways:

Using standard Microsoft Windows means

To compress the data using standard Microsoft Windows means, perform the following actions:

  1. Highlight the files which you want to add to an archive.
  2. Right-click any highlighted file. By default, the names of the archive and of the right-clicked file will coincide. The archive can be renamed after creation.
  3. In the context menu select Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
  4. A zip-archive (file with the zip. extension) with the selected files will appear in the same directory.

Using WinZip utility

Information To work with the WinZip utility, the utility need be pre-installed on the computer.

 

In order to add the data to an archive using the WinZip utility, perform the following actions:

  1. Highlight the files which you want to add to an archive.
  2. Right-click any highlighted file.
  3. In the context menu select Add to Zip.
  4. In the Add window in the Add to archive field specify the path and the name of the created archive. By default, the archive is created in the same folder.
  5. In the top right part of the window click the Add button.
  6. The Zip-archive is saved in the specified path. Close the WinZip window.

Using WinRAR utility

Information To work with the WinRAR utility, the utility need be pre-installed on the computer.

 

In order to add the data to an archive using the WinRAR utility, perform the following actions:

  1. Highlight the files which you want to add to an archive.
  2. Right-click any highlighted file.
  3. In the context menu select Add to archive.
  4. In the Archive name and parameters window specify the path and the name of the created archive. By default, the archive is created in the same folder where the to-be-archived files reside. The names of the file and the archive will coincide.
  5. In the Archive format section specify the format of the created archive.
    • ZIP (preferable format for Kaspersky Lab experts)
    • RAR.
  6. In the bottom part of the window click the OK button.
  7. The archive is now saved in the specified path.
