How to disable passwords saving in most common browsers?

  • For the sake of convenient work on the Internet all popular browsers offer users saving their passwords in order not to enter them each time they are visiting a page. Even though the saved passwords are encrypted in various complicated algorithms there are lots of ways to steal and decipher them. That is why to be on the safe side disable saving of passwords in the browser.

    In order to disable autosaving in your browser, perform the following actions:

    In Internet Explorer 7 / 8

    In Internet Explorer 9

    In Opera 11

    In Mozilla Firefox 6, 7

    In Google Chrome 13

    In Internet Explorer version 7 / 8:

    1. On the upper right hand part of the window, click on the Tools button.
    2. Select Internet Options from the open context menu.
    3. On the Internet Options window on the tab Content in the section AutoComplete, click on the Settings button.
    4. On the AutoComplete Settings window, clear the box User names and passwords on forms.
    5. On the AutoComplete Settings window, click on the OK button.
    6. On the Internet Options window, click on the OK button.

    In Internet Explorer version 9:

    1. In the upper part of the window, click on the Tools button (with the asterix icon).
    2. Select Internet Options from the open context menu.
    3. On the Internet Options window on the Content tab in the section AutoComplete, click on the Settings button.
    4. On the AutoComplete Settings window, clear the box User names and passwords on forms.
    5. On the AutoComplete Settings window, click on the OK button.
    6. On the Internet Options window, click on the OK button.

    In Opera version 11:

    1. In the left upper corner of the window, click on the Opera button.
    2. In the open menu select Settings -> Preferences.
    3. In the Preferences window, got to the Forms tab.
    4. Uncheck the Enable Password Manager box.
    5. In the Preferences window, click on the OK button.

    In Mozilla Firefox version 6, 7:

    For users of Windows Vista / 7:

    1. In the left upper corner of the window, click on the Firefox button.
    2. Select Options -> Options from the open menu.
    3. In the upper part of the Options window, select Security.
    4. In the Passwords section, clear the box Remember passwords for sites.
    5. In the Options window, click on the OK button.

    For users of Windows XP:

    1. On the upper part of the window, click Tools.
    2. Select Options from the open menu.
    3. On the upper part of the Options window, select Security.
    4. In the Passwords section, clear the Remember passwords for sites box.
    5. On the bottom of the window, click OK.

    In Google Chrome version 13:

    1. In the upper right hand part of the window, click on the Customize and control Google Chrome button with the spanner icon.
    2. Select Option from the open menu.
    3. In the left hand part of the Options tab, select Personal Stuff.
    4. In the right hand part of the window in the Passwords section, select Never save password.
    5. Close the Options tab.
