Information in this article applies to all Kaspersky Lab applications for Microsoft Windows operating systems

After installing a Kaspersky Lab product, MS Windows may "blue screen" or freeze, e.g. while booting or when executing some task. It might be a conflict between the software you have installed or some drivers and a Kaspersky Lab product. If such a problem arises, Kaspersky Lab Technical Support should receive a GetSystemInfo utility report.

There are two versions of GetSystemInfo for different operating systems:

GetSystemInfo version 3.0

GetSystemInfo version 4.1

Windows NT 4.0 Workstation

Windows NT 4.0 Server

Windows 2000 Professional

Windows 2000 Server

Windows XP

Windows Vista

Windows 7

Windows Servers 2003

Windows Servers 2008

How to generate a GetSystemInfo 3.0 utility report in Windows Explorer:

  • download and extract the archive GetSysteminfo.zip [ZIP, 144KB];
  • run GetSystemInfo.exe on the issuing computer;
  • select a location to save the sysinfo.txt file and click the button Save.

  • wait for the utility to complete.

How to generate a GetSystemInfo 3.0 report from command line prompt

The utility can be launched from the command line with the following keys:

  • /s - this key launches the GetSystemInfo utility in 'silent mode': in this case the process of report creation is not displayed on the screen.
  • /r=[path and/or name of the report file] - the key launches the utility and allows to specify the folder in which the final report file will be saved, and to define the file name (if the name is not defined yet) (e.g. getsysteminfo.exe /r=c:\report.txt, the report file will be created in the root directory of the disk C with the name report.txt).
  • /NB - this key is used together with the key /r. if these keys are used the name of the final report file will contain NetBIOS of your computer (e.g. getsysteminfo.exe /r=c:\ /NB , as a result the report file of the utility will be created in the root directory of the disk C with the name of the kind [NetBIOS computer name].txt)
  • /IP - this key is used together with the key /r. if these keys are used, the name of the final report file will contain the IP address of your computer (e.g. getsysteminfo.exe /r=c:\ /IP, as a result the report file of the utility will be created in the root directory of the disk C with a name like [your_computer_IP].txt)

  • Information If Application Activity is enabled in the Proactive Defense component, the following message might be displayed when running the GetSystemInfo 3.0 utility:

    In this case activate the Skip option and enable the Apply to all checkbox.
