• Validity period. Normally keys have a 12-month validity period.
  
  
• Creation date. The date the key has been created.
  
  
• The date beginning with which the key can be installed. For example, this parameter is set on September 1, 2010. If you try to install the key before this date the program will not accept it. As a rule this time parameter coincides with the Creation date.
  
  
• The date after which the key will not function. This date is counted as the date from which the key can be installed + 13 months (for the keys with the validity period of 12 months). I.e. the total life-time of the key is 13 months.

Thus you should bear in mind that if a key is installed 1 month later than the date beginning with which the key can be installed, then its validity period will be reduced. Example:

• the date beginning with which the key can be installed – September 1, 2010;
• key validity period - 12 months;
• the date after which the key will not function – October 1, 2010
  
  If you install the key on September 15, 2010, the key will be valid until September 15, 2011 (12 months).

If you install the key on October 10, 2010, the key will be valid until October 1, 2011 (11 months and 21 days). I.e. the key will function only until the date after which the key will not function!
