When using Kaspersky Security Center 10 as a WSUS-server, the WUA service (Windows Update Agent) can stop working when the system is searching for, downloading or installing updates available for Microsoft products. This can happen if the host computer is running under Windows 10 with the Anniversary Update (1607) installed. When the WUA service stops working, the update task in Kaspersky Security Center freezes up, or an error is generated and the application exits.
If you are using Windows Server 2012 or 2016 as a WSUS-server, the WUA service on the updated computer can also be suddenly disabled.
WUA service failure takes place if, while configuring connection of the controlled computer with a WSUS-server, the server is given a IPv4 address instead of a FQDN one.
Microsoft engineers have confirmed that the problem is caused by the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (1607) and is not related to Kaspersky Security Center.
To fix this issue with the WUA service:
Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607
Release of antivirus database updates (required to protect your computer/server/mobile device)
Providing technical support over phone / web
Release of patches for the application (addressing detected bugs)
