How to adjust Web Anti-Virus settings in Kaspersky Internet Security 2018

Cybercriminals can hack websites and embed malware into them (scripts). If you open such a website, your computer’s security could be compromised.
Web Anti-Virus in Kaspersky Internet Security 2018 checks all the web pages you open and blocks any threats it finds.
How to enable or disable Web Anti-Virus
- In the main window of Kaspersky Internet Security 2018, click the gear button .
- If you have problems opening the application window, see this guide.
- In the Settings window, go to the Protection section and enable or disable Web Anti-Virus by moving the toggle.
How to select a protection mode
There are two protection modes in Kaspersky Internet Security 2018:
- Interactive mode. The application notifies you about all potential threats to the operating system and prompts you to either allow or block actions.
- Automatic mode. The application automatically takes the recommended action when it detects a potential threat.
You can adjust the protection mode in the Interactive protection block of the application settings. By default, the application automatically applies a recommended action to a detected threat.
To change the settings:
- Click in the lower left-hand corner of the Kaspersky Internet Security 2018 main window.
- In the General section, select or clear the checkbox Perform recommended actions automatically. By selecting the checkbox, you enable the automatic protection mode. By clearing the checkbox, you enable the interactive protection mode.
How to select an action to be taken when a threat is detected
- In the main window of Kaspersky Internet Security 2018, click the gear button .

- In the Settings window, select Protection → Web Anti-Virus.
- In the Web Anti-Virus settings window, select a security level.
- In the Action on threat detection drop-down menu, select the action that should be performed:
- Select action automatically (for automatic protection mode). Web Anti-Virus will perform the action recommended by Kaspersky Lab.
- Prompt on action (interactive mode). Web Anti-Virus will prompt you to choose whether to block or allow the suspicious activity.
- Block. Web Anti-Virus will block the object and issue a notification about infection.
- Allow. Web Anti-Virus will allow the object to be opened or downloaded, and then will check it with the File Anti-Virus component.
Advanced Settings
- In the main window of Kaspersky Internet Security 2018, click the gear button .

- In the Settings window, select Protection → Web Anti-Virus.
- In the Web Anti-Virus settings window, click Advanced Settings.
- In the Advanced settings of Web Anti-Virus window:
- Configure the checking of URLs on websites. Do this by enabling Check URLs and then selecting On all websites except those specified.
If you don’t want Web Anti-Virus to check a specific website, click Manage exclusions.
You can also configure Web Anti-Virus to only check URLs on specific websites by selecting Check URLs → On specified websites only → Configure checked websites. - If you don’t want Web Anti-Virus to check a particular website, add it to the Trusted URLs list by clicking Configure trusted URLs. You should only add websites you trust to the Trusted URLs list.
- Choose the types of threats you want Web Anti-Virus to check for. This can affect the performance of your device. We recommend to leave all options enabled.
- Configure the checking of URLs on websites. Do this by enabling Check URLs and then selecting On all websites except those specified.
