How to set up Parental Control in Kaspersky Total Security 19
Parental Control is a component of Kaspersky Total Security that allows you to restrict or block access to the computer, specific applications, or the Internet for user accounts. You can use a premade set of restrictions for your child’s age, or configure custom restrictions manually.
How to enable Parental Control and apply predefined restrictions
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Before you begin, we recommend setting a password to prevent controlled users from modifying the Parental Control settings:

Enter a password and click Continue.

Specify the scope for the password and click Create password.

Enter the password and click Log in.

If you decided not to create a password, click Skip.

- Move the switch opposite the user account you want to control into the Control is enabled position.
- Click Configure restrictions.
- To apply a predefined set of restrictions, click Default Settings.
- Select a protection level.
Parental Control will be enabled for the chosen user account. A predefined set of restrictions will be applied.
How to restrict computer access
Using Parental Control, you can set:
- Time intervals during which access to the computer will be blocked.
- A time limit on computer use for a day.
- Breaks in computer use for a day.
To restrict computer access:
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Make sure that the switch is in the Control is enabled position for the user account you want to set restrictions for. If control is not enabled, any restrictions you configure will not work.
- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Select the Block access from checkbox in the Weekdays and Weekends sections, and then set a time when your child or teenager will not be able to use the computer.
- Select the Allow access for no longer than checkbox in the Weekdays and Weekends sections, and then specify the maximum amount of time your child or teenager will be able to spend on the computer.
- Select the Take a break checkbox in the Time breaks section and specify the length and frequency of the breaks from computer use.
Access to the computer will be restricted.
How to restrict access to online games
Using Parental Control, you can block access to games according to the user’s age or game categories. Parental Control uses the following age restrictions and category rating systems:
- Pan European Game Information (PEGI): a European rating system for video games and other entertainment content. The system includes 5 age categories and 8 content categories. See the PEGI website for more information.
- Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB): a rating system for video games used in Canada and the USA. The system includes 6 age categories and 30 content categories. See the ESRB website for more information.
How to block games based on age restrictions
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Make sure that the switch is in the Control is enabled position for the user account you want to set restrictions for. If control is not enabled, any restrictions you configure will not work.
- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Go to the Applications section.
- Select the checkbox Restrict startup of games for users younger than and then select an age from the drop-down list.
- Select a rating system:
- Detect automatically. The rating system will be selected automatically based on your location.
- ESRB
- PEGI
Games that exceed the age rating will not be allowed to run.

- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Select a rating system:
- Detect automatically. The rating system will be selected automatically based on your location.
- ESRB
- PEGI
- Click Select categories of games.
- Make sure that the checkboxes have been selected for the categories of games you want to block.
Games from the selected categories will not be allowed to run.
How to restrict the startup and use of applications
Using Parental Control, you can:
- Block the startup of particular applications or applications from certain categories.
- Limit the amount of time applications may be used.
To restrict the startup and use of applications:
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Make sure that the switch is in the Control is enabled position for the user account you want to set restrictions for. If control is not enabled, any restrictions you configure will not work.
- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Go to the Applications section.
- Click Settings.
- Select the checkbox beside the application categories you want to block.
- If necessary, configure usage rules for a specific application: To do so:

Select either Allow, Block or Restrict from the drop-down list.

- If you selected Restrict, set a maximum usage time for the application on weekdays and weekends, as well as time breaks and the exact times to block access to the application.

Click Save.

How to restrict Internet access
Using Parental Control, you can:
- Restrict Internet access time.
- Ensure searches for information online are safe.
- Restrict access to websites.
- Prevent files from downloading.

- Select the Restrict access on weekdays to or Restrict access on weekends to checkboxes and specify a maximum time to allow Internet access.
Access to the Internet will be restricted.

- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Go to the Internet section.
- Select the Enable Safe Search checkbox to exclude unwanted content from online search results.
- Select the Control access to websites checkbox and select:

Block access to all websites → Manage exclusions and add a list of allowed URLs.

Safe Search will be enabled and access to websites will be restricted.
How to block files from downloading.
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Make sure that the switch is in the Control is enabled position for the user account you want to set restrictions for. If control is not enabled, any restrictions you configure will not work.
- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Go to the Internet section.
- Go to the Block file downloading section and select the checkboxes besides the categories of files you want to block.
Files from the selected categories will be blocked from downloading.
How to configure content control restrictions
Using Parental Control, you can:
- Prevent users’ personal data from being transferred to third parties.
- Monitor the use of keywords in messages.
How to block the transfer of personal data
- In the main window of Kaspersky Total Security, click Parental Control.

- Make sure that the switch is in the Control is enabled position for the user account you want to set restrictions for. If control is not enabled, any restrictions you configure will not work.
- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Go to the Content Control section.
- Select the Block personal data transfer to third parties checkbox and click Edit list of personal data.
- Click Add.
- Select the type of personal data from the list and fill in the Value field. For example, enter the number of a bank card you don’t want to be transferred.
- Click Add.
Any attempt to transfer the personal data specified will be blocked.

- Click Configure restrictions beneath the user account name.
- Go to the Content Control section.
- Select the Enable Keyword Control check box and click Edit list of key words.
- Click Add.
- Enter a keyword or phrase and click Add.
Parental Control will detect any messages being sent that contain unwanted key words or phrases and will include information about them in a report.
How to disable Parental Control
- Right-click the application icon in the Windows tool bar. If the application icon is hidden, click .
- Select Disable Parental Control.
- If Parental Control is password protected, enter the password and click Continue.
Parental Control will be disabled.
