Antivirus databases contain signatures of all currently known malicious programs along with the corresponding disinfection methods.

We recommend that you update Kasperksy Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone antivirus databases on a regular basis. The antivirus databases are considered obsolete if they have not been updated for 15 days. Having obsolete antivirus databases lowers the protection level.

Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone update settings are configured in the policy for mobile device users or manually.

InformationAntivirus database updates are not available for Blackberry devices.

How to configure manual update settings:

  • On a device running Windows Mobile

    • Open Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone;
    • Select Menu > Anti-Virus. this will open the Anti-Virus window;
    • Select Update. This will open the Update window.

  • On a device running Symbian

    • Open Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone;
    • Select Update on the Anti-Virus tab. This will open the Update window;

  • On a device running Android OS

    • Open the Anti-Virus section in the Kaspersky Endpoint Security 8 for Smartphone home screen.
    • Tap AdditionalAnti-Virus: Additional screen will open.

The update task can be run either manually or automatically on a schedule.

You can indicate a server address to download updates from in the policy

Enter KLServers in the Update server address field to download updates from Kaspersky Lab servers. You can also indicate here any other HTTP server, or local/shared folder (for example, http://domain.local/index).

If you want to use an alternate update source, a HTTP server e.g. ente rits name in the following format: http://domain.local/index.

InformationHowever an update source should have the same folder structure as Kaspersky Lab servers.



The update task will not start as scheduled when in a roaming zone, if the Allow updating in roaming option is disabled.

You can always start the update task manually on your mobile device regardless on the policy settings.
