If you receive the error message "Activation error. Server name cannot be resolved" during the activation of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013, follow the steps below to fix the issue:

1 . Check your Internet connection

Check if you have the Internet access. In order to do so, launch the browser Internet Explorer and open the Kaspersky Lab website.

2. Configure your Firewall

If Firewall is installed on your computer, make sure that an allowing rule is created for the process avp.exe in the Firewall settings.

Firewall secures your computer protection on local networks and Internet. Firewall is a program which monitors data transferred via Internet or local networks. According to the Firewall settings, it blocks or allows data transfer.

3. Scan computer for viruses

Scan your computer for viruses. Create a Rescue Disk using the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 interface. Use the created Rescue Disk to scan your computer for viruses.

If  you cannot access the interface of Kaspersky Anti-Virus, scan your computer for viruses with the help of free Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2011.

4. Try to activate the product later

If the recommendations did not help, try to activate the application later (in about an hour).

5. Contact Kaspersky Lab Technical Support

If the issue persists, create a request to Kaspersky Lab Technical Support via the My Kaspersky service. Describe your problem in detail.
