How to configure proxy server use in Kaspersky Internet Security 2013?

If you are using a proxy server to connect to the Internet, you need to configure the proxy server settings. Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 uses the settings in work of some components and to update the anti-virus databases and the application modules.

If you do not know your proxy server settings, contact your Internet provider.

How to configure proxy server settings from the Settings window

In order to configure the proxy server settings in Kaspersky Internet Security 2013, perform the following actions:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. In the right upper corner of the main application window, click Settings.

  1. In the Settings window go to the Update tab.
  2. in the Run mode and update source section, click the Update source button.

  1. In the Update settings window on the Source tab, click the Proxy server button.

  1. In the Proxy server settings window check the box Use proxy server.
    • Select Automatically detect the proxy server settings for the program to automatically detect proxy server settings.

    • If the connection is not established, define the exact proxy server settings. For this, check Use specified proxy server settings and fill out the fields Address and Port.

    • If you are working in a local network, then you may need to specify proxy server authentication. For this, check the box Use proxy server authentication

    • In order to establish connection with local addresses bypassing a proxy server, check Bypass proxy server for local addresses. If you uncheck this option, then work with local addresses will be done via the proxy server and it will increase your Internet traffic. 

  1. Click the OK button in the Proxy server settings window.
  2. Click the OK button in the Update settings window.
  3. Click the OK button in the Settings window.
  4. Run the databases update.

How to configure proxy server settings from the main application window

In order to configure the proxy server settings from the main application window, perform the following actions:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click the Update button.

  1. In the Update window, click on the down-arrow button to open the context menu. Select Settings from the context menu.

  1. In the Update settings window on the Source tab, click the Proxy server button.

  1. In the Proxy server settings window check the box Use proxy server.
    • Select Automatically detect the proxy server settings for the program to automatically detect proxy server settings.

    • If the connection is not established, define the exact proxy server settings. For this, check Use specified proxy server settings and fill out the fields Address and Port.
