Sizing calculator

After you have selected the deployment scenario that is most appropriate for your IT infrastructure, you must calculate the hardware requirements for servers used for installing program components. To do so, you can use the sizing calculator.

To calculate the hardware requirements for the selected deployment scenario:

  1. Open the sizing calculator.
  2. In the Central Node settings group, specify the following settings for the traffic of your IT infrastructure:
    • SPAN traffic—Volume of processed traffic from SPAN ports.
    • Email traffic—Volume of processed traffic of a mail server.
    • ICAP traffic—Volume of processed traffic over the ICAP protocol.
    • Endpoint Sensors—Number of Endpoint Sensors components.
  3. If you want to use the Sensor component, in the Central Node settings group click the Add Sensor button.
  4. Fill in the traffic settings for the Sensor component like you did for item 2.
  5. If you want to add another Central Node or Sensor component, click the New Instance button in the upper-right corner of the window.

A new Central Node settings group appears. If required, you can add another Sensor component the same way you did for item 3.

If you do not fill in the traffic settings, the added component will not be taken into account in the calculations of hardware requirements.

The upper part of the window displays a table containing the hardware requirements for servers with the selected components. By default, the table indicates the minimum requirements for Central Node and Sandbox components. After filling in the traffic settings, the calculations for the specified configuration are automatically displayed.

The table contains the following information:
