Idle Scan

Idle Scan is a scan mode in which Kaspersky Anti-Virus will not display notifications. This scan requires fewer computer resources than other types of scans (for example, Full Scan). In this mode Kaspersky Anti-Virus will scan startup objects, kernel memory, and the system partition.

Idle Scan will be run in the following cases:

• After the anti-virus databases are updated.
• Thirty minutes after Kaspersky Anti-Virus launch.
• Every six hours.
• If the computer remains idle for five or more minutes (after the screen saver is started).

The Idle Scan will be stopped if any of the following conditions is satisfied:

• The computer becomes active again.
• If an Idle Scan has not been performed for more than ten days, then the scan will not be interrupted and allowed to finish.
• The computer (laptop) switches to battery mode.

When running the Idle Scan, Kaspersky Anti-Virus does not scan files whose contents are located in OneDrive cloud storage.

In order to run Idle Scan manually, perform the following actions:

1. Open the main application window.
2. Click the Scan button.

   The Scan window opens.

3. In the Scan window, in the Idle Scan section, click the Run scan button.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus will start scanning the startup objects, kernel memory, and system partition.
