About Removable drives scan task

When the Removable drives scan task is running, the application scans a connected device and its boot sectors for viruses and other malware. The following removable drives may be scanned: CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, flash drives (including USB modems), external hard drives, and floppy disks.

When the Removable drives scan task starts, Kaspersky Endpoint Security monitors the connection of removable drives to the computer. When a removable drive is connected, the application creates and starts a temporary Boot sectors scan task (Boot_Scan, BootScan type) with the default settings and Boot_Scan_{ID} name. This task cannot be stopped. When this task is completed, it is automatically deleted by the application.

If you configured the file scanning, Kaspersky Endpoint Security also starts one or several Custom scan tasks (Scan_File, type ODS) with default settings. If necessary, a user with administrator privileges can stop this task.

If you change the Removable drives scan task parameters, new values are not applied to already running Scan_File and Boot_Scan tasks.

Stopping the Removable drives scan task does not stop already running Scan_File and Boot_Scan tasks.

Removable drives scan is stopped by default. You can start or stop the task at any time if necessary.
