Removable drives scan

When the Removable drives scan task is running, the application scans a connected device and its boot sectors for viruses and other malware. The following removable drives may be scanned: CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, flash drives (including USB modems), external hard drives, and floppy disks.

This toggle button enables or disables Removable Drives Scan.

This toggle button is switched off by default.

Action on a removable drive connection

In this drop-down list, you can select an action to be performed on a removable drive connection:

  • Do not scan removable drives on connection.
  • Quick scan is only for scanning files of certain types on removable drives (except CD/DVD drives and Blu-ray discs) and does not unpack compound objects. For the quick scan, default parameters of the File Threat Protection task are used.
  • Detailed scan is for scanning all files on removable drives (except CD/DVD drives and Blu-ray discs). For the detailed scan, default parameters of the on-demand Virus scan task are used.

    The Do not scan action is selected by default.

Action on a CD / DVD drive connection

In this drop-down list, you can select an action to be performed when a CD/DVD drive or Blu-ray disc is connected:

  • Do not scan CD/DVD drives and Blu-ray discs on connection.
  • Quick scan only scans files of certain types on CD/DVD drives and Blu-ray discs, and does not unpack compound objects. For the quick scan, default parameters of the File Threat Protection task are used.
  • Detailed scan will scan all files on CD/DVD drives and Blu-ray discs. For the detailed scan, default parameters of the on-demand Virus scan task are used.

Block access to a removable drive during scan

This check box enables or disables blocking removable drives during the Removable drives scan task.

This check box is cleared by default.
