Mail Threat Protection
The Mail Threat Protection component scans the attachments of incoming and outgoing email messages for malware and other threats. The component provides computer protection with the help of anti-malware databases, the Kaspersky Security Network cloud service, and heuristic analysis.
The application supports the following mail clients: Apple Mail, Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Canary Mail, Spark, Mimestream, Airmail, Post Box, Boxy Suite 2, Twobird, Shift, Clean Email, eM Client, Superhuman, Polymail, HEY, Mail+ for Gmail, Spike mail.
By default, Mail Threat Protection is enabled. You can disable Mail Threat Protection if necessary.
Enable/disable Mail Threat Protection using the Web Console
- In the main window of the Web Console, select Assets (Devices) > Policies & profiles.
- Click the name of the Kaspersky Endpoint Security policy.
The policy properties window opens.
- Select the Application settings tab.
- Go to Essential Threat Protection > Mail Threat Protection.
- Turn on/off the Mail Threat Protection toggle switch.
- If Mail Threat Protection is enabled, select the action to be performed by the application when malware is detected:
- If necessary, in the Advanced settings section configure the time limit for checking archives or the maximum size of the archive for scanning.
- Save your changes.
Enable/disable Mail Threat Protection using the Administration Console
- Start the Administration Console.
- Maximize the Administration Server <Server name> node.
- In the console tree, click Managed devices.
- In the workspace, select the Policies tab.
- Right-click the policy you want to configure and choose Properties.
- In the Properties window, select Essential Threat Protection > Mail Threat Protection.
- Select or deselect the Enable Mail Threat Protection checkbox.
- In the Action on threat detection section, select the action to be performed when Kaspersky Endpoint Security detects a threat.
- If necessary, in the Mail Threat Protection: settings section configure the time limit for checking archives or the maximum size of the archive for scanning.
- Click OK to save your changes.
- Do one of the following to apply the changes to the policy:
- Click Apply to remain in the Properties: <Policy name> window after saving changes.
- Click OK to close the Properties: <Policy name> window after saving changes.
Enable/disable Mail Threat Protection using the Kaspersky Endpoint Security application
- In the menu bar, click the application icon and choose Settings.
The application settings window opens.
- On the Essential tab, in the Mail Threat Protection section, select or deselect the Enable Mail Threat Protection checkbox.
- If the Enable Mail Threat Protection checkbox is selected, select the action to be performed when Kaspersky Endpoint Security detects a threat.
- If necessary, configure the time limit for checking archives or the maximum size of the archive for scanning.
View the Mail Threat Protection report
- In the menu bar, choose Protection > Reports.
The Reports window opens.
- Open the Mail Threat Protection tab.
