Perform scan tasks
The default Full Scan task is included in Kaspersky Internet Security. While running this task, the application scans memory, startup objects, and all internal drives of the computer for viruses and other malware.
- Open the main application window.
- Click the
button.
The Scan window opens.
- In the Scan window, click the
Full Scan button.
A full scan of the computer starts automatically.
The default Quick Scan task is included in Kaspersky Internet Security. While running this task, the application scans the critical areas of the computer (memory, startup objects, and system folders) for viruses and other malware.
- Open the main application window.
- Click the
button.
- The Scan window opens.
- In the Scan window, click the
Quick Scan button.
A quick scan of the computer starts automatically.
If you want to scan an individual object (such as an internal drive, folder, file, or removable drive) for viruses and other malware, you can run the Custom Scan task.
Scan a selected file or folder
Drag a file or a folder to the application icon in the Dock.
Scan an object from the drop-down list of default custom scan objects
- Open the main application window.
- Click the
button.
- The Scan window opens.
- In the Scan window, click the
Custom Scan button.
A drop-down list where you can select objects to scan opens.
- In the drop-down list, select an object that you want to scan (for example, All Removable Drives).
The scan of the selected object starts automatically.
You can view the results of completed scan tasks in the Reports window.
