Restrict contacts and messaging via social networks for a child or teenager

Controlling the contacts and messaging of children and teenagers via social networks, such as Facebook and Twitter, helps to prevent them from contacting with strangers who may attempt to extract personal data by pretending to be the same age. If you want to restrict contacts and messaging via social networks, you can use the Social Networks category of Parental Control.

To restrict contacts and messaging via social networks for a child or teenager:

  1. Open the main application window.
  2. Click the button.

    The Parental Control window opens.

  3. In the left pane of the window, select a user account for which you want to restrict messaging over social networks.
  4. In the right pane of the window, click the Enable Parental Control button.
  5. In the left pane of the window, select the Social Networks category.
  6. In the upper pane of the window, click the Enable button.
  7. Create and configure a list of allowed and blocked contacts:
    • To add a contact to the list:
      1. Click the button.
      2. In the ID column, enter the ID of a contact from social networks.
      3. In the Name column, enter the real name of the contact.

Note: You can look up the contact's ID on social networks on the Reports tab for the Social Networks category of user activity.

    • To temporarily allow messaging with a contact:
      1. Select a contact from the list.
      2. Deselect the checkbox in the Blocked column.

Messaging with this contact will remain allowed until you select the checkbox again.

    • To remove a contact from the list:
      1. Select a contact from the list.
      2. Click the button.
    • To allow messaging only with contacts for whom the checkboxes in the Blocked column are unselected, select the Block all other contacts checkbox.

If messaging with a contact is prohibited, Parental Control blocks all messages sent to or received from that contact.

You can view the following information on the Reports tab of the Parental Control window:

  • Information about messages received from or sent to any blocked contact
  • Information about inclusion of personal data in messages
  • Message logs for each contact
