Kaspersky Internet Security for Mac protects computers running OS X against viruses and other computer security threats.
The application includes the following components:
The File Anti-Virus component protects the file system of the computer in real time, by intercepting and analyzing any attempts to access files. You can configure the actions to be performed by the application on infected and probably infected files. By default, Kaspersky Internet Security disinfects or deletes malicious objects.
The Web Anti-Virus component protects information that is sent and received by your computer over the HTTP and HTTPS protocols in Safari, Google Chrome™, or Firefox™ browsers. This component includes browser extensions that you can install: URL Advisor and Onscreen Keyboard. URL Advisor scans website links for phishing and malicious web addresses. Onscreen Keyboard reduces the risk of interception when you enter your passwords on websites.
Network Attack Blocker
The Network Attack Blocker component protects the computer against intrusions into the operating system. This component protects against cyberattackers (who use port scanning and brute-force attacks) and against malware installed by such cyberattackers (including malware that tries to send personal data to criminals).
The Parental Control component monitors the activity of different users on the computer and on the Internet. You can limit Internet use time for each user, restrict access to web resources and applications, create lists of contacts blocked or allowed for messaging over social networks, and monitor transmission of specific personal data. The Parental Control component also shows reports about user activity.
Safe Money protects your financial transactions when you visit banks, payment systems, and stores online – anywhere where you enter your bank card details or pay on the Internet. Safe Money makes sure that the websites of banks, payment systems, and online stores are genuine – it checks their security certificates based on data from Kaspersky Security Network. The list of validated websites of banks, payment systems, and online stores is updated automatically as a part of the application databases.
Kaspersky Internet Security blocks access to your webcam to prevent applications from using it and protects your privacy on the Internet.
The following functions are implemented in the application:
Kaspersky Internet Security detects and neutralizes viruses and other computer security threats on demand in the specified scan scope. You can configure the actions to be performed by the application on infected and probably infected files. By default, Kaspersky Internet Security disinfects or deletes malicious objects. You can run a full scan of the computer, a quick scan of critical areas of the computer, and a scan of the specified scan scope.
Kaspersky Internet Security updates anti-virus databases from Kaspersky Lab update servers. Before updating, it also makes a backup of the current databases, so you can roll back to the previous databases if necessary. The application can download and install new versions of Kaspersky Internet Security automatically.
When an infected file is detected, Kaspersky Internet Security creates a copy of the file in Quarantine before trying to disinfect or delete it. You can restore the original version of the file at any time.
Kaspersky Internet Security generates reports about events and actions involving application components.
Kaspersky Internet Security notifies you of certain events in the operation of Kaspersky Internet Security by displaying notifications and banners. You can also set sound alerts for notification windows.
Kaspersky Internet Security displays protection status messages in the Protection Center window. Protection Center shows information on the current status of computer protection and how to eliminate computer security problems and threats.
