Identifying spam calls
If you use Call Filter in Russia, the following additional features are available to you:
- Identification of numbers: the company a number belongs to, the company's field of activity (category), and reputation – if calls from this company have been reported as spam.
- Sending spam reports to improve the cloud database of spam numbers. Other users of this database will know if a number is used by a spammer.
The spam detection and call identification features are applicable for phone numbers registered in Russia only, since the cloud database only has information about Russian numbers.
This feature is available if you have accepted the Statement regarding data processing for Call Filter in Russian. If you change you locale afterwards, this feature will still be available. Your phone number (MCC) must be registered in Russia.
You can also report calls as spam from numbers registered in countries other than Russia.
How to turn on caller ID?
To turn on caller ID, accept the Statement regarding data processing for Call Filter when you first start the Call Filter feature.
If you skip this step, the warning that caller ID is turned off is displayed in the main Call Filter screen. To turn on caller ID later, tap Turn on when you see this warning and accept the Statement.
Now, caller and spam identification are enabled. After you receive a call from a phone number that is not in your contacts, this number is checked against the cloud spam base and information about it is displayed in the All calls list.
How to report spam?
If you received a call from a phone number that is not in your contacts, the app prompts you to report spam to the cloud database after the call. To do this, when the Spammer called? message appears, select one of the following:
- This is spam, if you want to send information about this number to the cloud spam base.
- Skip, otherwise.
