Creating the master password
Kaspersky Password Manager uses the master password to protect all your personal data. The master password is created when the application is used for the first time. Do not use a password that can be easily guessed (such as last names, first names, or dates of birth). To create a strong password, use uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
The master password provides access to all your personal data. Remember that if the master password is lost, you will lose access to all passwords stored in the vault.
When the application starts, Kaspersky Password Manager prompts you to:
- Create a master password for the vault, if it is the first time that you have used Kaspersky Password Manager.
- Enter the existing master password, if you have previously created a master password and used Kaspersky Password Manager.
- Import your existing vault, if you saved it in a previous version of the application.
To create a master password:
- In the Set master password window, enter the new master password in the Create master password field.
Kaspersky Password Manager automatically tests the strength of your password and displays its strength level next to the Create master password field.
- In the Confirm master password field, enter the new master password again.
- Click the Done button.
The master password is created.
You can change the master password later.
