Glossary
Account
A type of data used in Kaspersky Password Manager for storing credentials and autofilling the login and password entry fields. Web accounts are used for signing in to websites, and application accounts are used for signing in to applications. You can add multiple accounts for a website or application.
Favorites
A section where you can place the web and application accounts, identities, and notes that you access most frequently, such as the addresses and account information for the websites you visit most, or your credentials for the applications that you use most often on your devices.
Free version
A version of Kaspersky Password Manager available at no cost. Application functionality is limited in the free version of Kaspersky Password Manager.
Identities
A type of data used in Kaspersky Password Manager for storing identities and business and financial information. Standard fields are used for entering and storing identities. Identities can be used for quickly filling in registration forms that require the entry of personal and business information, as well as for paying for online services.
Kaspersky Password Manager Premium
A version of Kaspersky Password Manager available under a license with a limited term. Application functionality is not limited in Kaspersky Password Manager Premium. The license term is limited. When the license expires, Kaspersky Password Manager continues to work with limited functionality on the same terms as the free version. To continue using Kaspersky Password Manager Premium, you must renew your license.
Kaspersky Security Network (KSN)
An infrastructure of cloud services that provides access to the Kaspersky Lab database with constantly updated information about the reputation of files, web resources, and software. Use of data from Kaspersky Security Network ensures faster responses by Kaspersky Lab applications to threats, improves the performance of some protection components, and reduces the likelihood of false positives.
Master password
A password used for protecting data in Kaspersky Password Manager.
To keep your data safe, Kaspersky Password Manager does not store the master password on your devices and does not transmit it to the online vault. If forgotten, the master password is impossible to recover.
The master password can contain numbers, uppercase and lowercase letters in any of the supported alphabets, and special characters.
Kaspersky Lab recommends using a master password that is at least eight characters long and contains uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters.
My Kaspersky portal
A one-stop online resource for remote management and licensing of Kaspersky Lab applications, downloading application installation package to devices, and getting technical support. An account is required to sign in to My Kaspersky portal. You can create an account when signing up on My Kaspersky portal or use your existing account credentials if you are registered with other Kaspersky Lab resources.
My Kaspersky portal account
An account that is required for signing in to the My Kaspersky portal as well as to use the portal and certain Kaspersky Lab applications. You can create the account when registering on My Kaspersky portal. This account can also be used to access other Kaspersky Lab resources.
Note
A type of data used in Kaspersky Password Manager for storing personal information (such as passport details, driver's license details, and Internet access settings) in free-form text.
Online vault
Kaspersky Lab servers used for synchronizing data across devices with Kaspersky Password Manager installed.
Thanks to the online vault, you can access Kaspersky Password Manager data from any device as well as restore data if a device is replaced or lost. To do this, you must use an account to connect Kaspersky Password Manager to the My Kaspersky portal.
Vault
A file where Kaspersky Password Manager keeps data in encrypted form. Access to the vault is protected by the master password.
