Kaspersky Safe Kids for Android/iOS

About application monitoring

With application monitoring, you can restrict access to applications on your child's devices and view the history of application usage.

Application monitoring offers the following features:

  • Age restrictions

This feature blocks applications whose content is not appropriate for the child's age. Age restrictions are determined according to international age-appropriate ratings and app store rules.

On your child’s Android devices, Windows computers and Macs, Kaspersky Safe Kids blocks startup of apps and programs that are not appropriate for your child's age.

On your child’s iOS devices, Kaspersky Safe Kids hides apps that are not appropriate for your child's age. The icons are not displayed on the home screen. Specifically, Kaspersky Safe Kids hides all installed browsers on child’s iOS devices, because browsers have a rating of 17+ according to the rules of the App Store. The child must use Kaspersky Safe Kids to browse the Internet.

Kaspersky Safe Kids on child's iOS devices does not hide applications that have a rating of 4+ for children under 4 years of age since a rating of 4+ is the minimum possible rating for applications in the App Store.

  • Application category restrictions

You can restrict your child's access to applications that belong to specific categories. For each category, you can set one of the following options:

    • Allowed. Your child can open and use applications in the category.
    • Forbidden. Your child can't open or use applications in the category. When your child tries to open an application, Kaspersky Safe Kids blocks it from starting.

Application use cannot be restricted on your child's iOS devices.

  • Specific application restrictions

You can restrict your child's access to specific applications or allow an application that belongs to a forbidden category. You can set one of the following options for an application:

    • Allowed. Your child can use the application. Select this option if you need to allow an application that belongs to a forbidden category.

The applications that are added to the list of exclusions for Device Control, are automatically added to the allowed applications in Application Control. When you remove an application from the list of allowed applications in Application Control, it is automatically removed from the list of exclusions in Device Control, and the child will not be able to use this application when the child's device is blocked. However, when you remove an application from the list of exclusions for Device Control, it is not automatically removed from the list of allowed applications in Application Control.

Applications that are added to list of exclusions for Device Control are assigned the Works, even if the device is blocked label.

    • Limited by time. Your child can use the application for a limited time. When selecting this option, you need to set the time limit, for example, 2 hours per day.
    • Forbidden. The child can't open or use the application.

Application use cannot be restricted on your child's iOS devices.

  • Application use reports

You can find these reports on My Kaspersky in Kids > Programs > Reports.

You can view the list of applications your child opened and time spent using them. Kaspersky Safe Kids records the history of application use if the Application monitoring switch is turned on.

Reports are available only in the premium version of Kaspersky Safe Kids. App use statistics are unavailable for your child's iOS devices.
