The purpose of Backup is storing messages that KSMG saves before processing. If a rule that has the Place original message in Backup check box selected in its settings is applied to a message, the original message is placed in Backup regardless of the specified action. Messages are placed in Backup together with attachments.
Access permissions to messages in Backup are restricted to ensure the security of the KSMG server.
A privileged user with the relevant privileges can view information about all messages placed in shared Backup and perform actions on these messages. Messages in Backup can be viewed in the application web interface, downloaded to the user's computer, or emailed.
A privileged user of the application can also do the following with messages in shared Backup:
In personal user mode, the personal Backup is displayed with information about the current user's messages and about the messages in group mailboxes to which the current user has access. Messages from group mailboxes are stored in separate sections of the personal Backup, the names of which correspond to the email addresses of the group mailboxes. The personal Backup displays messages only from those group mailboxes that belong to the same Active Directory domain as the user account.
The default maximum Backup space is 7 GB. As soon as the size of Backup exceeds the default threshold value, the application begins deleting the oldest messages from Backup. When the size of Backup again falls below the threshold value, the application stops deleting messages from Backup.
