Activating the application

Switching the application to fully functional mode. Application activation is performed by the user during or after installation of the application. To activate the application, the user must have an activation code.

Activation code

A code that you receive when purchasing a license for Kaspersky Small Office Security. This code is required for activation of the application.

The activation code is a unique sequence of twenty alphanumeric characters in the format xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx.

End User License Agreement

A binding agreement between you and AO Kaspersky Lab that stipulates the terms on which you may use the application.

Kaspersky Security Network (KSN)

An infrastructure of cloud services that provides access to the Kaspersky Lab database with constantly updated information about the reputation of files, web resources, and software. Use of data from Kaspersky Security Network ensures faster responses by Kaspersky Lab applications to threats, improves the performance of some protection components, and reduces the likelihood of false positives.

Kaspersky Small Office Security Management Console portal

A one-stop online resource for managing the protection of devices that have Kaspersky Small Office Security applications installed. A user account is required for signing in to the Kaspersky Small Office Security Management Console portal. You can create an account when registering on the Kaspersky Small Office Security Management Console portal.

License

A time-limited right to use the application, granted under the End User License Agreement.

License term

A time period during which you have access to the application features and rights to use additional services.

Master password

A single password used to restrict access to Kaspersky Password Manager online storage data from any device of a user.

My Kaspersky portal

A one-stop online resource for remotely managing the use and licensing of Kaspersky Lab applications, downloading software installation packages, and receiving technical support. A user account is required for signing in to the My Kaspersky portal. A user can create an account when registering on the My Kaspersky portal, or can use his/her existing account if already registered on other Kaspersky Lab resources.

Online storage

Kaspersky Lab servers used for synchronizing data across devices with Kaspersky Password Manager installed.

Online storage lets you access Kaspersky Password Manager data from any device as well as restore data if a device is replaced or lost. To do this, you must use an account to connect Kaspersky Password Manager to the My Kaspersky portal.

Task

The functions of the Kaspersky Lab application are implemented in the form of tasks, such as: Full Scan task or Update task.

Update

The procedure of replacing / adding new files (databases or application modules) retrieved from the Kaspersky Lab update servers.

User account on My Kaspersky portal

An account that is required for signing in to the My Kaspersky portal as well as to work with Kaspersky Password Manager. A user can create an account when registering on the My Kaspersky portal. This user account also provides access to other Kaspersky Lab resources.

User account on the Kaspersky Small Office Security Management Console portal

A user account that is required for signing in to the Kaspersky Small Office Security Management Console portal. This user account is also required for connecting devices on which Kaspersky Small Office Security applications are installed to the portal. You can create an account when registering on the Kaspersky Small Office Security Management Console portal.
