About Kaspersky Security Scan

Kaspersky Security Scan 4.0 and all previous versions of the application are no longer supported by AO Kaspersky Lab.

Kaspersky Security Scan checks your computer's protection for reliability. After scanning is completed, the application tells you the following:

  • Whether an anti-virus application is installed and enabled on your computer and if its anti-virus databases are up to date
  • Whether a firewall is installed on your computer, and whether it is active
  • Whether any malware has been detected on your computer
  • Whether the current settings of the operating system can reduce the level of protection of your computer.

Kaspersky Security Scan uses several technologies to detect threats. The application detects malware by comparing it against signatures in the anti-virus databases. Kaspersky Security Scan uses Heuristic Analyzer to detect threats for which information has not been added to the Kaspersky Lab anti-virus databases.

Kaspersky Security Scan uses Kaspersky Security Network to ensure a faster response by the application to unknown threats. User participation in Kaspersky Security Network enables Kaspersky Lab to receive real-time information about the types and sources of new threats and develop methods to neutralize them. Kaspersky Security Network automatically sends statistics collected on your computer by Kaspersky Security Scan to Kaspersky Lab.

Kaspersky Security Scan does not remove malware and does not disinfect infected files. If a scan reveals that your computer is at risk of infection, you are recommended to purchase a Kaspersky Lab anti-virus application.
