About the high-availability cluster of Integration Servers

Only Linux-based Integration Servers can be used as part of a high-availability cluster.

A high-availability cluster of Integration Servers includes:

• A primary Integration Server. Handles all primary functionality of the Integration Server, as well as the functionality of the primary Integration Server in the high-availability cluster:
  • Assigning roles, registering and de-registering reserve Integration Servers.

    The procedures are performed using the Integration Server REST API (see the description of REST API requests).

  • Duplication of information about the virtual infrastructure to the reserve Integration Server.
  • Periodic synchronization of data between the primary and reserve Integration Servers.
• A reserve Integration Server. If the primary Integration Server becomes unavailable, the reserve Integration Server provides Light Agents with a list of SVMs available for connection and information about these SVMs. The rest of the Integration Server functions are not available for the reserve Integration Server. Management using the Integration Server Web Console and the Integration Server REST API is limited.
• A load balancer. It monitors the availability of the primary Integration Server and, if it becomes unavailable, switches over the SVMs and Light Agents to the reserve Integration Server.

After deployment of a high-availability cluster of Integration Servers you need to manage the settings for connecting SVMs and Light Agents to the Integration Server. In the connection settings, instead of the address and port of the Integration Server, you need to specify the address and port of the load balancer.

In the settings for connecting the Integration Server Web Console to the Integration Server, you can specify the address and port of the primary Integration Server or the address and port of the load balancer.

If you use the Integration Server REST API to manage the Integration Server, you need to make requests to the primary Integration Server that is part of the high-availability cluster.

The scope of functionality available in the Integration Server Web Console and in the Integration Server REST API depends on the role of the Integration Server in the high-availability cluster. Functionality is limited for the reserve Integration Server.
