Cause

Cause of the problem can be incorrectly configured settings.

Description

Some malware can spread by creating copies on all available hard drives via the hard drive autorun option. A cyber criminal saves an executable malicious file on a hard drive and adds the path to the autorun.inf file located on the hard drive. If you connect this hard drive to your computer, the system launches the malicious file added to the autorun.inf file, that causes your computer infection. Thus, a cyber criminal can gain control of your system and your personal data. The malicious code which infected your RAM will then infect any hard drives you connect to your computer by saving its copy on these hard drives and adding the path to the autorun.inf file located on the hard drives.

After fix

If the autorun from hard drives option is disabled, then it will not impact your system boot and your system performance. The fix disables only the autorun of the autorun.inf file, which can contain links to launch malicious programs. By default the autorun from hard drives option is disabled.

Rollback

You can roll back to the previous settings.
