Scenario: Deleting devices from the list of devices

If you no longer want to protect some of your users' devices, you can delete them from Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud, as described in this scenario.

You cannot undo the deletion of devices. Later, you can connect the deleted devices again.

Prerequisites

Before deleting devices running Windows or macOS, make sure the devices are decrypted. After deletion, you will not be able to decrypt the device from the console.

Before deleting devices running Android, make sure that Compliance Control is not applied to the devices. After deletion, if a device is locked because a non-compliance is detected, you or the device user will not be able to unlock the device.
That is why, you need to disable Compliance Control in the security profiles assigned to owners of the devices to be deleted, send the Synchronize command to the devices, and then wait until this command is executed.

Scenario

The scenario of deleting devices from the list of devices proceeds in stages:

  1. Marking devices for deletion

When you mark devices that you want to delete, they are first moved to the list of devices that are marked for deletion.

  2. Uninstalling security applications from devices

Actions at this stage depend on the operating system that the devices are running:

    • From devices running Windows, macOS, and Linux, the security application is uninstalled automatically. Automatic uninstallation is scheduled to start every three hours. Other settings of automatic uninstallation can be changed.

Manual uninstallation from Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud is required if automatic uninstallation failed or if you want to forcibly uninstall the security applications ahead of schedule.

    • Users of devices running Android are prompted to manually remove Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Android from their devices.
    • On iOS and iPadOS devices, there is no security application. Therefore, this stage is not applicable.

If you do not uninstall the security application from a device, the device will reconnect to Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud and will appear in the list of managed devices.

  3. Permanently deleting devices

This stage is intended to make Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud "forget" about the deleted devices.

After the security application is uninstalled automatically, the device finally disappears from Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud. No further actions are required.

Manual permanent deletion of devices is required in the following cases:

    • After you uninstall the security application manually from devices running Windows, macOS, or Linux.
    • If manual uninstallation from devices running Windows, macOS, or Linux is not possible (for example, a device is not accessible any more and you expect that it will never be protected by Kaspersky Endpoint Security Cloud again).
    • After you mark for deletion devices running Android, iOS, and iPadOS.
