Parameter |
Description |
|---|---|
Allow simple password |
Determines whether the user can set a simple password for protecting the mobile device. A simple password is a password that contains sequential or repeated characters such as "abcd" or "2222". By default, the user can use a simple password. |
Prompt for alphanumeric value |
Determines whether the user is required to use both letters and digits in the password for protecting the mobile device. By default, the user is not required to enter an alphanumeric password that includes special symbols. |
Minimum password length |
The minimum password length in characters. |
Minimum number of special characters |
The minimum number of special characters in the password (such as "$", "&", "!"). On some iOS MDM devices, if the Minimum number of special characters value is specified and the Allow simple password check box is selected, the device displays information about setting a password of six or more characters even though it is possible to set a password of four or more characters. |
Maximum password lifetime (days) |
The period of time in days during which the password will stay current (from 1 to 730 days). When this period expires, the user is prompted to change the password. If the value is 0, the password will never expire. By default, the password validity period is not limited. |
Auto-Lock |
The amount of time after which Auto-Lock should be enabled on the mobile device. If the mobile device remains idle for this time period, it switches to sleep mode. On different iOS MDM devices, the actual time of the device's automatic locking may differ from the value that you have specified:
For other values, the actual time of the device's automatic locking matches the specified time. |
Reuse of previous passwords |
The number of used passwords (including the current password) that will be compared with the new password when the user changes the current password. If the passwords match, the new password is rejected. If the value is 0, the new password will not be checked against previous ones. By default, the value is 0. |
Maximum time for unlock without password |
The amount of time during which the user can unlock the mobile device without entering the password. |
Maximum number of failed password attempts |
The number of failed password attempts that the system allows the user before it erases the device. If the value is less than or equal to 6, the system has no time delay and will erase all data and settings from an iOS device as soon as the user exceeds the set limit. If the value is more than 7, then after 6 failed attempts, the device imposes a time delay before the user can enter the unlock password again. The time delay begins after the sixth attempt and increases with each failed attempt. After the final failed attempt, the system erases all data and settings from an iOS device. By default, the number of password entry attempts is not limited. If the user exceeds the maximum number of failed password attempts, the device is reset to factory settings. |
