Preparing to manage settings on a server with the Sensor component installed separately from the Central Node

If you selected network protocols to get mirrored traffic from SPAN ports, configured the size of temporary storage for incoming traffic, the size of file storage or the traffic capture bandwidth on the standalone Sensor before connecting it to the Central Node and want to change these settings after connecting, you need to follow the steps in the instructions below.

All steps described below must be performed on servers in Technical Support Mode after elevating user privileges using the sudo -i command.

To prepare the Sensor for changing the settings:

  1. Log in to the console of the Sensor server and run the following command:

    kata-sensor-tool stop-sensor

  2. Log in to the management console of the Central Node server to which the Sensor is connected and run the following command:

    kata-sensor-tool clear-core-cookies

  3. Go back to the management console of the Sensor server and run the following command:

    kata-sensor-tool start-sensor

The Sensor is prepared for changing the settings. You can now follow the steps of the instructions to change the settings as necessary.
