Mail Threat Protection settings

Setting

Description

Protection scope

The protection scope specifies which objects the component must scan: incoming and outgoing messages or only incoming messages.

By default, the Incoming and outgoing messages option is selected.

Scan archive attachments

Enables or disables the scanning of attached archives.

This includes the scanning of ZIP, GZIP, BZIP, RAR, TAR, ARJ, CAB, LHA, JAR, ICE and other types of archives. The application identifies archives not just by extension, but also by format. When scanning archives, the application performs recursive unpacking. This makes it possible to detect threats in nested archives (archive inside an archive).

The check box is selected by default.

Scan attached office application files

Enables or disables the scanning of attached files in office formats. The application scans office-format attachments smaller than 1 MB regardless of the state of whether this check box is selected or not.

The check box is selected by default.

Do not scan archives larger than (MB)

If this check box is selected, Mail Threat Protection excludes from scanning any attached archives that are larger than the specified limit. If this check box is cleared, Mail Threat Protection scans attached archives of any size.

This check box is cleared by default.

Limit archive scan duration to (seconds)

If this check box is selected, the scan duration for archives attached to email messages is limited.

This check box is cleared by default.
