Attachment filtering settings

Setting

Description

Do not apply filter

If this option is selected, Mail Threat Protection does not filter files attached to email messages.

Rename attachments of specified types

If this option is selected, Mail Threat Protection replaces the last character of the extension with an underscore character for specified file types (for example, attachment.doc_). Thus, to open the file, the user needs to rename the file.

Selected by default.

Delete attachments of specified types

If this option is selected, Mail Threat Protection deletes attachments of the specified types from email messages.

You can specify the types of attachments to rename or delete from email messages in the list of file masks.

Merge inherited values

This check box enables or disables the merging of the list when inherited in child policies.

If the check box is selected, items in the list of the parent policy are displayed in child policies, and items can be added to the list of the child policy.

If the check box is cleared, the list items are not merged when inheriting policy settings.

This check box is cleared by default.

Table of attachment types

This table lists the types of attachments that you want to rename or delete from email messages.

You can add, edit, or remove attachment types using the corresponding buttons.
