Configuring the Device Control message template

When a user tries to gain access to a blocked device, the application displays a message about access denial or the blocking of an operation with the device.

Access denial messages are based on a template that describes the reasons for blocking. You can use special variables (for example,%USER_NAME%) in the message template. Such variables allow using the same message template for different devices. When generating a message, the application substitutes the values of variables corresponding to the specific device, user, and event into the message.

You can edit the message template.

To edit the message template in the Web Console:

  1. In the policy properties window, select Application settings → Security Controls → Device Control.
  2. In the Message templates section, click the Block messages link.
  3. This opens the Message templates window; in that window, configure the Device Control message template on the Message to user tab.

You can add variables and links to the body of the message for the user by clicking the Add variable and Add link buttons. To add a variable to the template, place the cursor in the required place in the text, click the Add variable button, and select a variable in the drop-down list. To add a link to the template, place the cursor in the required place in the text and click the Add link button.

You can also restore the text of the message template by clicking the Reset to default button.

  4. Click OK.
  5. Click the Save button to save the changes made.
