Special considerations for Light Agent mode

You can manage Kaspersky Endpoint Security in Standard mode and Light Agent mode using Kaspersky Endpoint Security policies and tasks. In Light Agent mode, some components and features of the application are not available.

Updating databases and application software modules

Kaspersky Endpoint Security in Light Agent mode uses special malware databases that the application needs when working as part of the Kaspersky Security for Virtualization Light Agent solution. Kaspersky Endpoint Security gets databases and application module updates from the Protection Server.

Databases and modules on protected virtual machines are updated using a special Update of databases and application modules task, in which a folder on the SVM is specified as the update source. Light Agent runs the Update of databases and application modules task automatically. You cannot select a different update source, configure the task schedule, or remove the task.

A rollback of the latest malware database update is also handled on the Protection Server side. After a rollback of a databases and application modules update on the SVM, a special local Update of databases and application modules task is started on the protected virtual machine. This task makes the Light Agent go back to using the previous set of malware databases.

Kaspersky Endpoint Security in Light Agent mode does not support the Update rollback task.

Activating Light Agent

To activate the application, you must add a license key to the SVM to which the Light Agent is connected. You do not need to activate the application separately.
