Confirm dangerous actions
Kaspersky Password Manager provides additional protection by emailing a verification code to confirm potentially dangerous actions.
Actions that require additional confirmation:
- Resetting the main password
- Replacing a cloud database by a local one
If Kaspersky Password Manager is associated with a My Kaspersky account
In this scenario, you can confirm database cleanup by entering a verification code that will be emailed to you.
If data sync is turned off, you can only clean up the local database by entering your My Kaspersky account password on the Enter the password for your My Kaspersky account step. You also need to enter the security code from a text message if two-factor authentication is enabled.
You may get the "Password is incorrect" error if you use an account from a third-party provider that is not linked to a My Kaspersky account. Accounts from third-party providers are not allowed to perform dangerous actions like database cleanups.
To link an account from third-party provider to a My Kaspersky account, perform the following steps:
- Go to My Kaspersky:
- By clicking the Forgot your password? link on the Enter the password for your My Kaspersky account step.
- Or by using a direct link to My Kaspersky.
- Log in to My Kaspersky using the same third-party-provided account as in Kaspersky Password Manager.
- If you use an account from a third-party provider to sign in to My Kaspersky for the first time, you need to specify a region and accept the Terms of Use of the Web-Portal.
- Click the Set password button.
- Specify the My Kaspersky account credentials and click Save changes.
Now you can enter the new password for the My Kaspersky account on the Enter the password for your My Kaspersky account step to complete the local database cleanup operation.
If Kaspersky Password Manager is not associated with a My Kaspersky account
In this scenario, your local database is not protected by My Kaspersky and the option to require a verification code to confirm local database cleanups is not available.
