Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) is a cloud service infrastructure that provides access to up-to-date information about the reputation of files, internet resources, and software from the Kaspersky knowledge base. Using data from Kaspersky Security Network can improve the effectiveness of protection profiles and reduce the likelihood of false positives.
Getting information about the reputation of the web addresses being scanned from KSN is always enabled, regardless of your participation in KSN. By participating in KSN, you agree to automatically send information about the operation of Kaspersky NGFW on devices to Kaspersky in accordance with the KSN Statement. Information is sent in accordance with the configured KSN access settings. Kaspersky experts use the information received from Kaspersky NGFW devices to fix problems with the solution or to change certain functionality.
You can find the list of data submitted to KSN in the Kaspersky Security Network Statement included in the distribution kit of the solution.
AO Kaspersky Lab protects the received information in accordance with requirements stipulated by applicable law and Kaspersky policies. Kaspersky uses the information thus received only in anonymized form and in the form of general statistics. General statistical data is generated automatically from the original received information and does not contain personal or other confidential data. The original received information is stored in an encrypted form and is destroyed as it accumulates (twice a year). General statistical data is stored indefinitely.
Participation in Kaspersky Security Network is voluntary. You can make a decision to participate in Kaspersky Security Network when you first log in to Kaspersky NGFW. You can change your decision at any time.
If you participate in Kaspersky Security Network and the KSN servers are unavailable, the "KSN unavailable" event is generated and written to the service event log. You can view this log on the command line using the show system security-events
command from the system
family of commands. For a description of command families and a link to the complete list of Kaspersky NGFW configuration commands, see the Managing Kaspersky NGFW using the command line document.
You can use Kaspersky Private Security Network (KPSN) instead of Kaspersky Security Network to prevent your organization's data from being transmitted beyond your corporate LAN.
The Kaspersky Private Security Network (KPSN) solution allows gaining access to Kaspersky Security Network data through a server located inside your corporate LAN. KPSN allows Kaspersky applications to gain access to the Kaspersky online knowledge base to query the reputation of files, web resources, and software. KPSN does not send statistics or files to Kaspersky. The Kaspersky Private Security Network service is developed for corporate clients that are unable to participate in the Kaspersky Security Network, for reasons that may include the following:
