Deployment of Kaspersky XDR Expert

Following this scenario, you can prepare your infrastructure for the Kaspersky XDR Expert deployment, prepare the configuration file containing the installation parameters, and deploy Kaspersky XDR Expert by using the Kaspersky Deployment Toolkit utility (hereinafter referred to as KDT).

Stages

The deployment scenario proceeds in stages:

  1. Download the distribution package with Kaspersky XDR Expert components

The distribution package contains the following components:

    • Archive with Kaspersky XDR Expert components
    • Template of the configuration file
    • Template of the inventory file
    • KDT utility that allows you to deploy Kaspersky XDR Expert
    • End User License Agreements for Kaspersky XDR Expert and KDT
  2. Installing a database management system (DBMS)

We recommend installing the DBMS on the separated servers outside the Kubernetes cluster.

If you want to perform demonstration deployment, you can install the DBMS inside the cluster. In this case, allocate the additional node for the DBMS installation. KDT will install the DBMS during the Kaspersky XDR Expert deployment.

  3. Preparing the administrator and target hosts

Select the administrator host that will be used to install and manage the Kubernetes cluster and Kaspersky XDR Expert. Define the number of target hosts on which you will deploy the Kubernetes cluster and the Kaspersky XDR Expert components included in this cluster. Prepare the selected administrator and target hosts for deployment according to the instruction.

  4. Preparing the hosts for installation of the KUMA services

The KUMA services (collectors, correlators, and storages) are installed on the hosts that are located outside the Kubernetes cluster. Select and prepare the hosts for installation of the KUMA services according to the instruction.

  5. Preparing the inventory file for installation of the KUMA services

Prepare the inventory file in the YAML format that contains parameters for installation of the KUMA services.

  6. Preparing the configuration file

Prepare the configuration file in the YAML format that contains the list of target hosts for deployment and a set of installation parameters of the Kaspersky XDR Expert components.

  7. Deployment of Kaspersky XDR Expert

KDT deploys Kaspersky XDR Expert by using the configuration file. KDT automatically deploys the Kubernetes cluster within which the Kaspersky XDR Expert components and other infrastructure components are installed.
