Managing SVM trace files

You can create an SVM trace file in the Protection Server policy.

To create an SVM trace file:

  1. Open Kaspersky Security Center Administration Console.
  2. Enable the display of advanced Protection Server policy properties in the operating system registry.
  3. In the Managed devices folder of the console tree, select the folder with the name of the administration group for whose SVMs you want to create a trace file.
  4. In the workspace, select the Policies tab.
  5. Select a Protection Server policy in the list of policies and right-click to open the Properties: <Policy name> window.
  6. In the list on the left, select the Advanced settings section.

SVM advanced settings are displayed in the right part of the window.

  7. In the Trace level drop-down list, select the SVM trace level.

You are advised to confirm the required SVM trace level with a Technical Support expert.

  8. Click Apply to start the tracing process.

The application will create a trace file with the unique name ScanServer.<creation date and time>.log in the /var/log/kaspersky/la/ folder. You can save a created trace file to a different folder on the SVM by specifying the path to the folder as the value for the trace_file parameter in the ScanServer.conf file.

Trace files are saved on the SVM in readable format. The user is responsible for ensuring the safety of data, particularly for monitoring and restricting access to data that is stored on the SVM until it is submitted to Kaspersky Lab.

In addition, you can create an SVM trace file by using the application configuration file ScanServer.conf located on the SVM. For detailed information on how to create and configure a trace file using a configuration file, you can contact Technical Support experts.
