Editing SVM network settings

At this step, you can edit the network settings of the SVM.

For SVMs on VMware ESXi, Citrix Hypervisor (Citrix XenServer), Microsoft Windows Server (Hyper-V), KVM, Proxmox VE, R-Virtualization, or HUAWEI FusionCompute CNA hypervisors

To edit the SVM network settings:

  1. Select the Edit SVM network settings check box.

If you added virtual networks for one or more SVMs at the previous step of the Wizard, the Edit SVM network settings check box is not displayed. You cannot proceed to the next step until the network settings of SVMs selected for reconfiguration have been configured.

  2. Do one of the following:
    • Select the Dynamic IP addressing (DHCP) option if you want to use the network settings received over the DHCP protocol for all SVMs.

By default, the IP address of the DNS server and the IP address of the alternative DNS server received over the DHCP protocol are used for each SVM. If you specified several virtual networks for the SVM at the previous step, by default the network settings for the SVM are received from the DHCP server of the first virtual network in the list of the specified virtual networks.

If you want to manually specify the IP address of the DNS server and alternative DNS server, clear the Use list of DNS servers received via DHCP check box. This opens a table containing the following information:

      • Hypervisor
      • SVM name

Specify the IP addresses of DNS servers in the DNS server and Alternative DNS server table columns.

    • Select the Static IP addressing option if you want to manually assign all SVM network settings. This opens a table containing the following information:
      • Hypervisor
      • SVM name
      • Network name

Specify the following network settings for each SVM:

      • SVM IP address
      • Subnet mask
      • Gateway
      • DNS server
      • Alternative DNS

Proceed to the next step of the wizard.

For SVM on Nutanix AHV hypervisor

Protection of the virtual infrastructure on the Nutanix Acropolis platform is supported only in the following Kaspersky Security updates: 5.1.1, 5.1.2, and 5.1.3.

Editing the network settings is available only for SVMs using the managed virtual networks with static IP addressing. The SVM network settings in managed networks with dynamic IP addressing are configured with hypervisor tools. If SVMs use unmanaged networks, it is recommended to make sure the DHCP server is configured for your network environment.

To edit the SVM network settings:

  1. Select the Edit SVM network settings check box.

If you have added one or several virtual networks with static IP addressing for one or more SVMs at the previous step of the Wizard, the Edit SVM network settings check box is not displayed. You cannot proceed to the next step until the network settings of SVMs selected for reconfiguration have been configured.

  2. The window shows a table with the following information:

In the IP address field, specify the IP address for each network. It will be assigned to the SVM. You can enter the IP addresses from the subnetwork address pool, specified in the hypervisor settings.

If you have not selected any virtual networks with static IP addressing at the previous step, configuring SVM network settings using the Wizard is not available.

Proceed to the next step of the wizard.
