Preparing the virtualization environment

To prepare the virtualization environment,:

  1. Make sure that the hypervisors use modern CPUs that support the SSE 4.2 instruction set.

Hypervisors with older CPUs are not suitable for deploying Rocky Linux 9.5 virtual machines.

  2. Make sure that the software version of the hypervisors satisfies the software requirements for deploying a Rocky Linux 9.5 virtual machine. If necessary, update the virtualization software to a supported version.
  3. If VMware EVC mode is enabled in the VMware vSphere cluster settings, set the compatibility level to at least Intel "Nehalem" Generation.
  4. Make sure your virtual infrastructure has sufficient resources to deploy new virtual machines.
