Scanning for viruses and vulnerabilities is one of the most important tasks for ensuring the computer's safety. Virus scans can detect spreading malicious code that may not be detected by the active protection system.  Vulnerability Scans detect software vulnerabilities that can be used by cyber-criminals for spreading malware, and accessing personal information.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 features the Idle Scan option. It is designed to optimize the computer's use of resources. In the Idle Scan mode, all resource-intensive tasks are performed only when the computer is idle (when it is locked by the user or when a screen saver is active for five minutes).

When your computer is battery-powered, Idle Scan will not be performed even if the computer is idle.

The Idle Scan option includes the following tasks:

  • Automatic update of antivirus databases and application modules.
  • Scan of system memory, startup objects, and system registry.
