How to restore a connection to online storage of Total Security on a new computer

When connecting an online storage created on another computer, you may encounter the error: Incorrect path to storage.

To connect an storage created on another computer, follow these steps:

  1. Open https://www.dropbox.com/ and sign in to your account.
  2. In Dropbox, go to the Apps -> Kaspersky Backup Storage folder and save the name of the nested folder. The folder name has an appearance of <computer name>_<xxxx>, where хххх is last four digits of the system hard drive serial number.

  1. Create a backup task and a new online storage:
    • Open Kaspersky Total Security .
    • In the main application window, click Backup and Restore.
    • In the Backup and Restore view, click the button Select files for backup.

To create a backup task, click Select files for backup  

    • At the Select files for backup step, select Create backup copies of files in specified folders.

    • Click the Add folder button and select any folder moderate size (an empty folder will do as well). Click Next.

    • At the Select storage step, click Activate.

    • Enter your credentials in on the Dropbox authorization page and click Sign in.

    • Click Allow to share the Apps folder with Kaspersky Total Security

    • A new backup storage folder will be created in Dropbox.

    • In Kaspersky Total Security window, select the activated online storage and click Next.

    • Complete creating a backup task by following the wizard instructions.
    • Wait until the backup task is completed. If the task does not start automatically, start it manually.
  1. In your Dropbox account, find a new folder with the backup storage. Save its name.

  1. Delete the online storage you have created in Kaspersky Total Security:
    • In the Backup copies window, click the Manage storages link.

To change a storage properties, click the Manage storages link  

    • In the Storages view, click the arrow Restore button and select Delete storage.

    • Confirm the storage deletion in the dialog that opens next.
  1. In Dropbox, change your old folder's name into the name of the deleted storage. To do this, select the folder and click Rename.

  1. Connect the renamed storage to Kaspersky Total Security:
    • In the Storages window, click the link Connect existing storage

    • In the Connect storage dialog, select Online storage and click OK.

Select the storage location and click OK

    • In the browser window, enter your Dropbox credentials and click Sign in.
    • Click Allow to share the Apps folder with Kaspersky Total Security.
    • The renamed online storage will be displayed in the Kaspersky Total Security window.
