Certificate verification problem when using Safe Money in Kaspersky Total Security

If you are attempting to use Safe Money and visit a banking site you may get the error message “Certificate verification problem detected 0x000000FF”. This is a known issue which has been resolved by an automatic patch via the Kaspersky database updates. All you need to do to fix the problem is manually run an update to ensure the latest bases have been downloaded, and then restart the computer to apply the patch.

  • Open Kaspersky Internet Security. 
  • Click Update
  • Click Run update.

Wait for the process to complete and then restart the computer. Please remember to save any work in progress before shutting down the PC to avoid data loss.


Additionally you can upgrade to the 2016 version of the product to remedy this problem.
