How to configure Kaspersky Total Security 2016 for better performance of your computer

In some cases Kaspersky Total Security 2016 may slow down the work of computer or certain applications due to the lack of system resources.

You can improve the performance of your computer by doing the following: 

  1. Open the Settings window of Kaspersky Total Security 2016.
  2. In the Settings window, go to the Performance section and do the following:

Battery Saving and Gaming Profile

  • Select the check box Disable scheduled scan tasks while running on battery power.
  • Select the Use Gaming Profile check box. This option optimizes the settings of all Kaspersky Total Security 2016 components when gaming applications are running in full-screen mode. For example, pop-up notifications will not be displayed. 

To improve the computer performance, use gaming profile and do not perform scheduled scan tasks when the computer runs on battery power


 Computer resources

  • Select the following check boxes:
    • Concede resources to operating system when computer starts.
    • Concede resources to other applications. Computer scan tasks will be postponed when the CPU and disk systems are at high load.
    • Perform Idle Scan.
  • Clear the check box Search for software that is intended to conceal traces of a malicious program in the system (rootkits). Rootkit search will not be performed in the background mode.

To improve the computer performance, enable the Concede resources to operating system when computer starts and Idle Scan options


Pause File Anti-Virus

  • Click the link Pause File Anti-Virus.

To improve the computer performance, set the period of time when the File Anti-Virus work will be paused

  • In the Pause File Anti-Virus window, select the check box and set the time using arrows.
Specify the time when File Anti-Virus will be paused
  • If you want to pause the work of File Anti-Virus at startup of a certain application, click Add.
To improve the computer performance, add the application at the startup of which the File Anti-Virus work will be paused
  • In the Open window, find the executable file of the application (with the .exe extension) and click Open.
  • In the Pause File Anti-Virus window, click Save.
  1. Close the application window.
