How to check and correct insecure operating system settings in Kaspersky Security Cloud for Mac

Your activity on your computer, along with the programs you are running, can change your operating system’s settings. This can reduce your computer’s security.

Kaspersky Security Cloud for Mac performs a search for insecure system settings by default and will alert you if any are found.

To view all the insecure settings that have been discovered, click Open Protection Center in the main program window (this will open the Kaspersky Security Cloud: Recommendations window).

Insecure operating system settings can be divided into two groups:

Recommended settings 

As a rule, these are marked with the icon Image: recommended settings icon in Kaspersky Security Cloud: Recommendations window

These settings are recommended to increase the safety of your operating system. You can change the settings manually or via Kaspersky Security Cloud for Mac (in the Kaspersky Security Cloud: Recommendations window, click the button with the name of the recommended adjustment). 

Critical settings 

As a rule, these are marked with the icon Image: critical settings icon in Kaspersky Security Cloud: Recommendations window

These settings are treated as vulnerabilities and must be corrected. 

The most dangerous critical settings are described below, along with instructions for how to correct them.

Kernel extension development mode is enabled

 
 
 
 
 

Automatic system security updates disabled
