When you are connected to a public or home wireless network, your sensitive information may be available to hackers if the network is not protected well enough.
Kaspersky Total Security 2018 scans wireless networks and notifies you of vulnerabilities. By default, such notifications are disabled in Kaspersky Total Security 2018. If you use wireless networks, we recommend that you enable notifications about vulnerabilities in wireless networks to protect your data.
To disable notifications of vulnerabilities in wireless networks, uncheck the Notify of vulnerabilities in Wi-Fi networks box.
Data in a wireless network can be transmitted either encrypted or unencrypted. Encryption protocols are used to encrypt data. The authentication and encryption protocols are chosen by the administrator who configures the wireless network’s settings. The user cannot select or change the wireless network protocols.
The protocols differ in their levels of security.
Kaspersky Total Security 2018 only considers the wireless network secure if the authentication protocol is WPA2 and the encryption protocol is CCMP. All other networks are considered vulnerable.
